Faithfulness.
Â鶹ÊÓƵ’s comprehensive strategic plan, Fidelitas, captures our commitment to remain faithful to Samford’s 184-year calling to Christ-centered higher education. Embedded within the plan’s eight pillars of focus are outcomes, highlighted in this report, that move Samford forward, supporting our vision to be the school of choice among national Christian universities.
But to what are we remaining faithful?
Samford is a historic institution whose impact now spans nearly two centuries. The university has survived two campus moves, wars foreign and domestic, financial exigency and two global pandemics. Despite episodic and existential threats, Samford has withstood the challenges and now thrives because of the faithful service and generosity of so many who have come before. Our faithfulness is to honor and steward a legacy of impact that has transformed graduates, families, communities and the Kingdom of God.
Today, Samford is a growing and thriving community of faith and learning. Sustained enrollment growth, improved academic excellence, co-curricular innovation, campus improvements, athletic prowess, national recognition and a recommitment to our Christ-centered culture all require us to remain faithful to meeting the present moment with excellence, intentionality and humility.
And, finally, as Samford moves from eminence to preeminence, we must practice faithfulness as we seek God’s plan for our beloved university. The psalmist reminds us that, “Unless the Lord builds the house, those who build it labor in vain.” As we collectively look to Samford’s future, may we be found faithful as we pray, plan and pursue excellence in all things, to the glory of God.
For God. For Learning. Forever.
