Job Description
Samford Abroad Peer Advisors provide 1-1 and group abroad advising, visit classrooms to share about study abroad programs, and support the recruitment of students to study abroad opportunities.

Duties may include (but are not limited to):
  • Learn about the variety of Samford Abroad offerings and demonstrate effective oral and written communication about Samford Abroad Programs
  • Promote Samford Abroad offerings to all Samford undergraduate students, prospective Samford students, parents, and other stakeholders
  • Conduct peer advising and workshops for prospective Samford Abroad students
  • Complete appropriate documentation and data reporting
  • Organize and attend events to promote study abroad, particularly during International Education Week and the Global Connections Fair
  • Assist with and attend the Samford Abroad Fair
  • Organize, lead, and attend Samford Abroad classroom visits
  • Assist with presentation creation, reports, and articles to promote study abroad
  • Assist with event logistics, setup, and takedown
  • Other duties assigned by Samford Abroad Advisor & Assistant Director of SamfordGlobal
Scheduling:
  • Samford Abroad Assistants will have 2-3 set office hours each week for peer advising
  • Classroom Visits and other opportunities to work will be shared with all Samford Abroad assistants and will be assigned on a first come first serve basis
  • Fall semester will have more opportunities for hours than the spring semester
  • Students will need to have some availability  

Federal Work/Study earnings will be paid biweekly in the form of a check or direct deposit payable to the student. This award does not credit to the account of the student as payment toward Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ charges.

Required Qualifications
Due to extensive contact with students, faculty and staff across campus, a professional demeanor and the ability to maintain confidentiality is essential. Student should also demonstrate strong communication and interpersonal skills as well as maturity and dependability. Applicants should have demonstrated interest in study abroad and a desire to develop expertise on Samford Abroad programming. Flexible availability including occasional nights and weekends is required.
