Robert H. Herz, chairman of the Financial Accounting Standards Board (FASB), will deliver the first Hodges Executive Speakers lecture sponsored by the Â鶹ÊÓƵ School of Business for the Birmingham business community. The luncheon program will be Friday, Oct. 27, at 11:30 a.m. at Birmingham's Harbert Center.
The FASB, which began operations in 1973, establishes standards of financial accounting and reporting for private-sector entities, including businesses and not-for-profit organizations. Herz was formerly senior partner with PricewaterhouseCoopers and its North America Theater Leader of Professional, Technical, Risk and Quality.
The Hodges Executive Speaker Series will host a number of leaders in various venues throughout the year. The program is supported by a generous gift from the late Gerow Hodges, a Birmingham business and civic leader for many years. The first Hodges program is also an event associated with the Nov. 2 inauguration of Samford President Andrew Westmoreland.
