Alabama’s top 100 geography students will compete in the State Geographic Bee at Â鶹ÊÓƵ Friday, April 9.Ìý The final round will be at 3 p.m. in Reid Chapel.

The competitors, all in grades four through eight, qualified after winning contests in their school and placing among the top 100 scorers in the state on a test administered by the National Geographic Society. ÌýThey represent schools in 23 Alabama counties.

The winner of Friday’s competition will receive a $100 cash prize, a National Geographic Collegiate Atlas of the World and an all-expenses-paid trip to Washington, D.C., for the national finals May 25-26.Ìý The championship round will air nationally on the National Geographic Channel May 26.
