Jaro Szurek was selected as chair of cataloging and metadata at the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ Library, effective Nov. 15. Previously an associate librarian at the library, Szurek will now manage all aspects of cataloging of the library’s resources and review current and new policies and procedures to verify that they are still current and up-to-date.
Szurek joined the Samford library in 2003 as the cataloging/music librarian and was promoted to associate librarian in 2010-2011. He has also taught music appreciation in Samford’s School of the Arts for eight years.
A native of Poland, Szurek received a masters of arts in musicology, which included a bachelor of arts degree, from Jagiellonian Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ in Krakow, Poland, and a master of science in information science from the Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ of Albany-State Âé¶¹ÊÓÆµ of New York.
