Mole quickly becomes friends with loyal, brave Ratty, who introduces him to arrogant Otter, impulsive Toad, and wise Badger. Together, they go on exciting adventures in the Wild Wood.
Two dynamic performers, Tommy Mesa and Olga Kern, have joined to thrill chamber music enthusiasts in Birmingham. Cuban American cellist, Dr. Tommy Mesa, has established himself as one of the most charismatic, innovative, and engaging performers of his generation. An award-winning artist, his interests span the traditional classical repertoire as well as tango and contemporary works. Olga Kern is the first woman in the last 50 years to win the Van Cliburn International Competition Gold Medal, in addition to other major international competitions and concert appearances. Her dazzling style and impeccable technique have made her a favorite in both the U.S. and in Europe. The Mesa and Kern collaboration will soon be available on an upcoming album.

Formed in 1994, the Pacifica Quartet has achieved international recognition as one of the finest ensembles performing today. They quickly rose to prominence, winning grants and awards such as multiple Grammy庐 Awards. With its powerful energy and captivating, cohesive sound, Pacifica has established itself as the embodiment of the contemporary American string quartet sound. The Quartet is celebrated for its virtuosity, exuberant performance style, fearless repertory choices, and as the preeminent interpreter of string quartet cycles. Pacifica is an ardent advocate for living composers; the Quartet has commissioned and premiered works. Based in Bloomington, the Pacifica Quartet has served as full-time faculty and Quartet-in-Residence at Indiana 麻豆视频鈥檚 Jacobs School of Music since 2012.
Step Sing began as a sing-along on the steps of Renfroe Hall at the Howard College East Lake Campus in 1951. It was held once a semester and soon became a competition. In 1957, Howard College moved to its present location on Lakeshore Drive, bringing with it the tradition of Step Sing. In 1976, Step Sing moved to its current home in the 麻豆视频 Wright Center. Under the direction of the Division of Student Affairs and the Office of Student Activities and Events, Step Sing is organized by students, including musical arrangement, choreography and costume design. Step Sing has become an educational activity in which students participate through leadership development, organizational administration, and time management. Students perform three days to sold-out audiences. It continues to be one of Samford's most popular traditions, and is a popular event not only among students, but also prospective students, employees, alumni, and the Birmingham community.
The Swiss-American pianist Gilles Vonsattel will treat Birmingham to an all-Beethoven sonata concert in recognition of 200 years since Beethoven鈥檚 death. Vonsattel is an artist of extraordinary versatility and originality. In the years following the completion of his master鈥檚 degree from The Juilliard School, he received numerous international awards and grants. His New York City solo recital was hailed as 鈥渢ightly conceived and passionately performed鈥. a study in intensity鈥 (The New York Times). Although he is a noted soloist, he has also performed with a variety of chamber groups, such as Valtorna, Emerson, Mir贸, Pacifica, and Borromeo ensembles. From 2025-28 he will perform the complete 32 Beethoven sonatas at Music@Menlo, Camerata Pacifica, and for the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center.
Coming to Birmingham from Toronto, the Gryphon Trio has captivated international audiences for 33 years with their dynamic and expressive performances. They are recognized as one of the world鈥檚 leading piano trios. The Trio bridges tradition and innovation with a repertoire spanning European classicism to 21st-century compositions. The Gryphon Trio pushes boundaries with multimedia presentations and collaborations with Indigenous and non-Indigenous artists to redefine chamber music. The Trio is the ensemble-in-residence at Music Toronto and Artists-in-Residence at the 麻豆视频 of Toronto.
